Video and pictures courtesy - Indian Navy Kerala floods, 29 killed, 55 thousand homeless, rescue operation by Indian Navy. Gist of Naval Deployments for Op Madad, for info of everybody. Wayanad:- 10 Sailors, 1 Officer with 1Gemini ex Kochi deployed at Kurumbalakkota. This team is embedded with the army rescue team. This team was airlifted into Wayanad on 9 Aug on Seaking C. It was initially deployed in Kalpetta. 4 Officers, 16 Sailors and 3 Geminis Ex INA/ Zamorin currently deployed at Parakuni. This team has rescued 72 stranded people from Panamaram. The teams hv been overcoming all problems faced such as breakdown engines etc of their own boats due to water ingress by repairing it on site and continuing the relief work . Regular seaking helicopter sorties are being undertaken to Wayanad to airlift diving teams and other rescue eqpt. 2 portable generators were also positioned with these teams. Future Outlook for Wayanad - Situation stable. Idukki Dam overflow:- One diving team with Gemini deployed at Kodungalur, Trichur. 4 deployed at Aluva. Of these 3 sent to Puthenvelikara and One deployed at Pizhala island adjacent to Aluva. 5 Diving teams on standby at Naval Base. 1 Contingent consisting of 30 Sailors and 1 Officer from Vthy, prepositioned at NAD Alwaye. 2 Contingents from Garuda and Dronacharya kitted up and standby. All preparations for Medical and Community kitchen made at Naval Base. 3 IAF helos also positioned at INS Garuda. Of this 1 M17 was for use by CM today. Outlook for the coming days as assessed by navy . Idukki overflow at peak. Expected to continue. Teams will be in place till situation is normal. Kakki dam overflow with downstream effects in Alleppey under control.
